Frequently Asked Questions

What is Extrait de Parfum?

Fragrance comes in different concentration levels. Cologne is typically 2 to 4 percent fragrance oil. Eau de Toilette is around 5 to 15 percent. Eau de Parfum is usually 15 to 20 percent. Extrait de Parfum is 20 percent or higher. Our formulas are in the 20+ percent range making it an Extrait de Parfum , which is the highest standard classification. In practical terms this means the scent is more concentrated, applies closer to the skin, and lasts longer than lighter formulations.

How long does the scent last?

On skin, expect 6 to 10 hours depending on your body chemistry, the specific scent, and where you apply it. On fabric, it can last considerably longer. Pulse points like the wrists and neck tend to project more because of the warmth. Benzoin resinoid in every formula acts as a natural fixative, which helps the other botanical notes hold on longer than they would on their own.

Is it safe for sensitive skin?

All of our formulas are verified against IFRA 51st Amendment Category 4 safety limits using the actual constituent data from each ingredient batch. That said, our products contain botanical extracts that naturally include allergens such as linalool, geraniol, eugenol, and benzyl benzoate, among others. The full allergen data for each ingredient is available in our Transparency Vault. If you have known sensitivities to any botanical listed in our ingredient disclosures, consult a dermatologist before use.

Why don't we use "Fragrance" in the ingredient list?

Under US labeling law, the word "Fragrance" or "Parfum" is a catch-all term that can represent anywhere from a few to several hundred individual compounds without disclosing any of them. It is legal and it is how most brands operate. We chose not to use it. Every compound in our formulas is a whole botanical extract and each one is listed individually by its full INCI name. There is nothing in the bottle that is not on the label.

What does the transparency vault contain?

The Transparency Vault is a page on our website where we publish the safety and compliance documentation for every ingredient we use. This includes Safety Data Sheets, IFRA certificates, Technical Data Sheets, EU Allergen Statements, and purity declarations where available. Everything is organized by ingredient and available for download. Batch-specific Certificates of Analysis are available on request.

Why is shipping ground only?

Our perfumes contain 200-proof organic ethanol, which is classified as a flammable liquid under federal transportation regulations. Flammable liquids cannot be shipped by air through standard commercial carriers without HAZMAT certification. We ship exclusively via ground to stay in full compliance. This means delivery times may be longer than what you are used to from other online retailers, but it is the correct and legal way to ship this product.

Can I return or exchange a product?

If the tamper-evident paper seal is unbroken and the product is in its original packaging, you may return it within 14 days of delivery for a full refund. You are responsible for return shipping costs. Once the seal has been broken, the product cannot be returned. We cannot verify the integrity of the contents after the seal is removed. If your order arrives damaged, leaking, or incorrect, contact us within 48 hours with a photo and your order number. Full details are on our Refund and Return Policy page.

Do you ship internationally?

Not currently. We are only shipping within the United States at this time. International shipping for alcohol-based fragrance involves additional regulatory requirements that we have not yet set up. We plan to expand shipping in the future and will update this page when that changes.

Are your products vegan and cruelty-free?

Our products contain no animal-derived ingredients. None of our ingredients are tested on animals, and our suppliers provide declarations of non-animal testing which are available in our Transparency Vault. We do not currently carry a third-party certification such as Leaping Bunny or PETA. The statements above are based on our own sourcing practices and supplier documentation.

Why are your prices lower than other botanical brands?

We sell direct to consumer with no retail middlemen, no paid advertising budget, and minimal overhead. The cost of our ingredients is high — Bulgarian rose absolute and Indian jasmine absolute are not cheap materials. But because we are a one-person operation without the expenses that come with a large team, retail distribution, or traditional marketing, we can keep the final price lower without reducing the quality of what goes into the bottle.

How should I store my product?

Keep it away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and humidity. A drawer, a closet shelf, or a cabinet works well. Do not store it in a bathroom where temperature and humidity fluctuate from showers. The matte black glass provides UV protection, but consistent cool and dark storage will preserve the scent profile for as long as possible.

What is the shelf life?

With proper storage, our perfumes maintain their intended scent profile for approximately up to 36 months after opening. Each box includes a Period After Opening symbol — a small icon of an open jar with "36M" printed on it — which indicates the recommended use window once the seal is broken. The vitamin E in each formula acts as a natural antioxidant that slows the oxidation of the botanical extracts over time. An unopened, sealed bottle stored properly will last well beyond this window.
